Presentation of the volume VOLI VINCIANI. LEONARDO'S DREAM, curated by Nicola Baronti, at the Leo Lev Museum

5 FEBBRARIO 2026

In 1960, the Leonardian Celebrations marked a historic stop for Vinci, with major events
suggestion such as the First Vinciana Reading and the symbolic throws of the crown from the sky in homage
to Leonardo. The arrival of SETAF and an American helicopter, flying over Anchiano with on board
Mayor Guido Masi, establishes a symbolic pact of friendship between the United States and the community
local, celebrated with Vinci wine, an authentic expression of the territory.
Despite the scarcity of accommodation facilities at the time, the town was able to accommodate numerous guests,
culminating in a large convivial table at Villa Baronti, formerly Farsetti and Bellio, today
prestigious headquarters of the Leo Lev Museum. On that occasion, the wine — praised
even from American guests — emerges as a central element of Vinciana's identity, a symbol of
hospitality, tradition and culture.
Present since the Middle Ages in the economic and cultural life of the territory, wine becomes
protagonist of popular festivals and artistic events, up to the
Lady of Bacchus by Mario Mariotti: a participatory work of art that combines play, tradition and
homage to Leonardo, strengthening the link between creativity and community.
On the occasion of the presentation of the volume VOLI VINCIANI. LEONARDO'S DREAM, a
curated by Nicola Baronti, at the Leo Lev Museum, a small but
significant exhibition of historical photographs and Vinciani relics. The exhibition recounted the events
of the families and people who were the builders and, later, owners of the Villa, today
living place of culture and memory. Dai Farsetti, factors of Count Masetti and one of the organizers of
First Flight by Cecco Santi, historic event of the Vinci tradition, to the Baronti, owners
landowners and producers of fine wines, who hosted the honorary lunches of the first Vinci Readings and
of the most important events of the Fifties and Sixties of the Twentieth Century.
Together with the audience present, a real journey through time took place, between photographs,
historical posters related to wine events in Vinciani and the stories of the author of this collection of
essays dedicated to the concept of 'flight'. A term that also belongs to the language of oenology,
to indicate those flavors and aromas that 'fly' in the mouth, recalling an ancient Tuscan saying
according to which every sip of wine is a flight into the past, a journey through time.
Finally, with a good glass of wine, we invite you to celebrate the New Year in friendship, with
May it bring peace and joy to all our readers.
